making memories with Mijo

Mijo and I did some exploring this summer...

At the pumpkin farm he was interested in the train
and decided on riding in the caboose.

But then he thought the engineer's position looked more profitable.

He inquired about the position and was hired on the spot.

Look at him with his hands on his hips, trying to look all in charge, while the real engineer gives instruction to the passengers!

But there were no trains at the horse farm...

And as long as it was a horse he could ride,
he'd wear that yucky-hated-helmet all day long!

Ever wondered how a 3 year old conveys love?
"You like that horse," I asked Mijo?
"She's my daughter," he responded.

This year Mijo begins the adventure of making school memories!
Is he that old already?

This business of growing-up sure is tiring!

"I'm a TIGER"

Mijo visiting Aunt Trish at work:
"I'm a TIGER," says Mijo!
[Don't even TH!NK about
calling him T!gger!]
And he makes the cutest little tiger sounds, complete with paw swipe! :)

Weekend delights for young and "not so young" too!

I spent a wonderful weekend with Mijo and Mom.
We took a little ride on Sunday and stopped to greet some of Mijo's favorite animals along the way.
Mom shows us how to say hello in horse language. Mijo tries to clear the fence.
Anticipating his hello ...
Time to go ...
Mijo's response,
"I wanna stay here, Weewa."
So did I!

How'd you spend YOUR weekend?

I spent the weekend hanging out with Mijo. He LOVED seeing himself on his Aunt's computer screen - so much so that he even waved! :)

We visited with my newest grandnephew, JJ. He is the tiniest, cutest little peanut! Mijo couldn't wait to get his hands on his little primo ... and when he did, JJ went fast asleep ...

When he wasn't holding JJ, he helped JJ's Grandma feed him. I guess he thought he was better equipped seeing as how he had more recently been at that stage!?

Oh yeah, when he wasn't holding or helping with JJ ... he was attached to JJ's Mama ... she said it was a cultural thing! ;]

Presenting this year's Baby Jesus ...

In my elementary teaching days, this time of year would be spent putting the final touches on the Christmas Play. Students from kindergarten through grade 8 would sing and tell and act out the journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem for the birth of Jesus. When the time came for the baby to be born, Mary ~ played by an eighth grade girl ~ would be handed a real baby from behind. The role of Baby Jesus was sometimes played by a boy and sometimes played by a girl; it all depended on which student had the youngest brother or sister at the time!
I think Mijo would make a marvelous Baby Jesus this year:

health and happiness ...

One day this past week my good friend gave me a little magazine she picked up at her chiropractor's office. I found one of the articles most intriguing and have returned to read it over and over again. It's entitled Enjoy the Ride and contains a list of 40 things to health and happiness. Here are a few of my favorites:

Smile. It is the ultimate antidepressent.

Live with the 3 E's ~ Energy, Enthusiasm, and Empathy.

Dream while you are awake.

Try to make at least three people smile each day.

What other people think of you is none of your business.

Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

Spend more time with people over the age of 70 and under the age of 6.

So ~
Look who I had dinner with last night ....

Mijo just keeps getting cuter and cuter and cuter!

A question and a cutie for your Friday

Can you answer the following riddle with ONE WORD:

It is more loving than God and more hateful than the devil.
It is what the rich always want and the poor always have.
Abuse it and you shall live; consume it and you shall die.

And I just have to share a few recent pictures of Mijo.

Could you not just eat him up?

one of those kind of days ...

The skies are dark and dreary this morning ...

threatening to tear but not quite ready to let loose ...

Even the birds are quiet around the feeder ...

I am sequestered to write yet another correction to my dissertation proposal ...

but I think it is going to be one of those kind of days ...
[Thanks for the illustration, Mijo!]

Keeping Me Sane

This little peanut is my newest nephew and I am totally in love! Mijo is just the cutest little creature I have ever seen and spending time in his presence keeps me sane. He smiles and talks to whomever gives him attention and loves to quietly study his surroundings ... especially if they include ceiling fans. :)

Mijo is the youngest of 13 grandchildren ranging in age from 12 weeks to 31 years. He is the son of my youngest sibling, Mert. [I've 4 sisters and 3 brothers and we range in age from 38 to 57 years.] Mert is just 6 years older than my oldest niece, Giddy. Giddy has 2 little ones, B & M ~I kid you not! Hence, here is my grandnephew holding my nephew.
Are they not just the cutest??
